Language Variation
Within the American English language there are many variations depending on where you are from, where you live, who you are friends with etc. I am from the South so I often say words such as, "y'all." However, I love reading and writing so I often try to include more sophisticated vocabulary in my everyday life. I also come from a generation of aim and texting, in other words, abbreviation. Language of texting or online chatting can differ from face-to-face conversation. When texting I constantly say things such as, lol (laugh out loud), wbu (what about you), ttyl (talk to you later), etc. Language is constantly changing and being influenced by technology.. It is clear that different generations will continue to use and invent different variations of language.
